Alright, I finally finished downloading, cropping, resizing, and uploading all my pictures. I narrowed it down to just the ones I really wanted to share, and got it down to a minimum of only...19 pictures! I suppose that is a bit much to post here. I don't want to freeze up the computers of those behind-the-times people who still use dialup! :D But I still wanted to share all the pictures, which meant I had to come up with another solution. So, I have made a page just for the pictures! Now for all my thoughts on the game. :D
I was so excited about getting to go, and I know I would have just loved it no matter what the outcome of the game happened to be. But it was such an exciting game! In the top of the first inning, Chipper Jones made it on base, then Andruw Jones hit a home run. That was a bit worrying at first, letting them get two runs right off. However, our worries were soon alleviated by Craig Biggio and Mike Lamb. The first two batters up for the Astros hit back to back home runs to tie the game! The next few innings weren't quiet as exciting on the field, but the crowd had plenty of momentum to carry them through until the Astros brought back the excitement. Through six innings, they made the Braves use four different pitchers, and kept the Braves from scoring at all! One play we found particularly amusing was when the Braves walked our pitcher to load the bases. Pitchers typically don't hit very well compared to the rest of the team, and they walked him! After a very exciting game, the final score was 7-2 in favor of the Astros.
The Astros started a new tradition recently of having "Friday night fireworks" after every Friday night home game, despite the final outcome. During the game Friday, they kept the roof closed and had the stadium air conditioned. But afterwards, they rolled back the roof for the fireworks show. We saw quite a display, set to loud country music. The fireworks lasted for three songs, and were even better than we expected.
Being there in Minute Maid Park getting to see a game in person was a wonderful experience, and seemed almost surreal for a while. It was hard to believe I was sitting there in person seeing players I had watched on tv for years!
Congratulations to anyone who made it through my ramblings about baseball and all 19 of my pictures! You probably fared better than if you talked to me about it in person and got to see my pictures that way. I didn't even post all of them!
And my new icon is from a picture I took Friday night. I think I'm going to make more Astros icons.
Edited for typos.

I'm going to the baseball game tonight!! I've wanted to go to a professional baseball game since I was little, and one of the things I was excited about when we moved here was that the Astros were here. Not only do I get to see the Astros play, I get to see them play the Atlanta Braves, who I have been watching since I was little. I haven't kept up with them much since moving here, but they still have a few players I grew up watching. Chipper Jones was my favorite Braves player; I was just looking at their site, and he's been with them since 1993. I've been watching him play for almost 13 years! I'm even more excited about seeing the Astros though. I've turned into a die-hard Astros fan! :) I don't watch many of the games, but I keep up with how they're doing throughout the year. When playoffs come around, however, I really get excited about it! I'm so excited about going tonight, and it's hard to believe I'll actually be sitting in Minute Maid Park watching them all play in person!
